Hydra
Open the shipping jars at once upon arrival. Allow the culture jars to settle for about 30 minutes before use. This will permit the hydra to extend.
Water: avoid tap or any water that is high in dissolved salts. Metallic salts such as iron or copper are particularly harmful. Spring or sodium free drinking water is best for your HYDRA. (do not use distilled water)
Temperature: Hydra prefer a temperature between 55-65 degrees F (14-20 degrees C)
Food: Living food is required. Cladocerans such as Daphnia, Copepods and Ostrocods may be substituted.
Reproduction: Hydra that are well wed will reproduce asexually. Budding specimens are produced on the stalk of the parent Hydra. When winter conditions occur, the Hyrda will produce spermaries and ovaries. In some species, both spermaries and ovaries are on the same individual.
